Abstract

With mounting pressures on climate actions, how do we go about boldly transforming our carbon intensive industry quickly? GM’s plan for embedding Sustainability in our business strategy and how we are bringing EVerybody in on this journey.

Biography

Geraldine is the Sustainability Strategies Senior Manager for General Motors. In this role, Geraldine leads GM’s sustainability strategy and initiatives in the areas of sustainability reporting, stakeholder engagement, corporate goals monitoring and strategies focusing on reducing environmental and social impact as well as improving organizational performance. Geraldine led the team who created the beyond 2020, long-term Corporative Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy and commitments announced earlier this year. This exercise focused on integrating the ESG risks and opportunities with GM’s business strategy. Geraldine was also instrumental in developing the automaker’s science-based targets. Currently, Geraldine chairs GM’s Sustainability Steering Committee, an integrated, cross-functional team representing the entire value chain and is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the roadmap and strategies to meet GM’s ESG public commitments.

Geraldine has over 20 years of experience in the automotive industry, working in several geographic regions, in roles with increasing responsibility from environmental operations to environmental strategic programs and sustainability. Geraldine holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from Universidad International SEK in Quito, Pichincha, Ecuador, a master’s degree in environmental engineering from University of Illinois and a master’s in business administration from Oakland University.
